 Children Are Welcome  in our worship service, but a staffed nursery is available for your convenience & the worship service broadcasts into the nursery.


  

Clipboards, Crayons, Pencils and Papers for children are in the sanctuary entrance.


 

Volunteers are needed for the infant/toddler nursery. A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.


We would like to call you by name also. Nametags are available on the credenza. Request a replacement by leaving a note in the church office.

 summer_gathering_space No books to read. No workbook to complete. Absolutely no homework. Attendance at your own schedule. All that is required is a desire to learn and grow in Christian faith. “SURPRISED IN PRAYER”, our adult Sunday School class starts July 12 for an 8 week session. In the meantime, enjoy a Pastor’s Forum on June 14 & 21.


 

NOTE: Childcare will be available for anyone who wishes to attend the Pastor forums in June and the summer adult education classes.

Everyone is invited to participate in beautifying the church grounds by purchasing and planting flowers. You may plant the flowers as your schedule allows. Diagrams of areas available are on the bulletin board and front doorway. Any questions can be directed to Richard Cutler.

 Youth Everyone in grades 7-12 is invited to join us the 1st & 3rd Sundays each month at 6:30PM for snacks, study, service, sharing and fun! We will not meet on June 7. Join everyone for the 40th Anniversary Celebration.

 


 Summer Gathering Space No books to read. No workbook to complete. Absolutely no homework. Attendance at your own schedule. All that is required is a desire to learn and grow in Christian faith. “SURPRISED IN PRAYER”, our adult Sunday School class starts July 12 for an 8 week session. In the meantime, enjoy a Pastor’s Forum on June 14 & 21.


 NOTE: Childcare will be available for anyone who wishes to attend the Pastor forums in June and the summer adult education classes.

 


 

 WEDNESDAY Worship: (starting June 3)

WE ARE OFFERING AN ALTERNATE

Worship Service with Communion; Wednesdays,7:00PM.

Join us Wednesday’s when your plans keep you away on Sunday

for a fun alternate worship experience.

MEN OF FAITH 

Attention all men of St. Stephen!

Our study, Knowing God 101, provides an overview of what the Bible teaches about God. We examine the nature, personality and activity of God, as well as how God is involved in our everyday lives.

We will meet Thursday, May 28, 6:30AM.

Then we will take a summer break.

Look for another great study in the fall.

Meeting place is Nautica Coffee.


 

Recycle to benefit Ronald McDonald house. Put pull tabs from drinks & soups in an envelope and leave it on the bulletin board.


 

 ProMedica Hospice needs fabric scraps and pieces and Fiber-fil to make small comfort pillows for their patients. If anyone in the congregation has some fabric they can part with please leave in a bag at church marked "Hospice" and Nancy Pfau will collect. Thank you for assisting ProMedica Hospice with this project.


 

 2009 Graduation We will be honoring our graduates at the June 7th services. Please let the office know by May 26, so that we may include their names in the bulletin.


 

Vacation Bible School with Sylvania United Church of Christ & First United Methodist Church of Sylvania will be June 15-19 from 9:00—12:00. Volunteers are needed to help teach and staff the event. Contact Libby Boldt if you can help.  Look for the registration form in the narthex and sign up for Camp E.D.G.E.


 

TRADING GRACES an eBay project designed for a win/win situation. You donate your items that are too good for a garage sale to Lutheran Social Services. In return we issue you an appropriate letter to be used in your taxes. We realize the total profits when these items are sold thru the Charitable Division of eBay called Trading Graces. St. Stephen has a fund to provide a source of funds for members to pursue their education, attend events or programs to aid in their development of Christian faith.

Our noisy offering from March, April and May was matched by $300 from Thrivent Financial for a total of $824.50, as a way to help St. Paul's Community Center with the purchase of their new commercial stove/ovens.

Thank you for dropping in your coins to help erase World Hunger.


 Your Thrivent Financial chapter will host the Confirmation reception with the coordination of the Fellowship Committee. Look for the chance to congratulate our confirmands between services next Sunday, May 31st.

Attention all men of St. Stephen!

Our study, Knowing God 101, provides an overview of what the Bible teaches about God. We examine the nature, personality and activity of God, as well as how God is involved in our everyday lives.

We meet the 2ND & 4TH Thursdays each month, 6:30AM.

Meeting place is Nautica Coffee.


  WEDNESDAYS: May 13, & May 20 we continue to meet at 7:00PM to study the ELCA’s latest social statement on human sexuality entitled Human Sexuality: Gift and Trust. We will also examine the task force’s Report and Recommendation on Ministry Policies.

sew  ProMedica Hospice needs fabric scraps and pieces and Fiber-fil to make small comfort pillows for their patients. If anyone in the congregation has some fabric they can part with please leave in a bag at church marked "Hospice" and Nancy Pfau will collect. Thank you for assisting ProMedica Hospice with this project.


graduation  2009 Graduation will be here soon. Let the church office know if you or someone in the parish is graduating so we may recognize their accomplishment.


CampEDGE_Logo09  Vacation Bible School with Sylvania United Church of Christ & First United Methodist Church of Sylvania will be June 15-19 from 9:00—12:00. Volunteers are needed to help teach and staff the event. Contact Libby Boldt if you can help.  Look for the registration form in the narthex and sign up for Camp E.D.G.E.


 TRADING GRACES an eBay project designed for a win/win situation. You donate your items that are too good for a garage sale to Lutheran Social Services. In return we issue you an appropriate letter to be used in your taxes. We realize the total profits when these items are sold thru the Charitable Division of eBay called Trading Graces. Scholarship Fund:

St. Stephen has a fund to provide a source of funds for members to pursue their education, attend events or programs to aid in their development of Christian faith.

If you would like to contribute to this fund to help your fellow members, just mark your envelope “Scholarship Fund” and place in the collection plate or mail to the church.

For any crisis situations, when you want the entire congregation to join in prayer, you may contact Marilyn Martin at 419-865-3632 to activate the Prayer Chain. For prayer slips and details, see the inside of the blue Friendship Registers, located at each row of chairs.


 praying_for_the_congregation Pastor Jim is praying for the families in the congregation every week. These families will be specifically prayed for this week and next. You may call Pastor with prayer requests, leave a note in his mailbox, send him an e-mail (revjimw@bex.net), or leave a message on the answering machine (do not leave confidential requests on the answering machine). The congregation is invited to join Pastor Jim as he prays for each of our families. As new people join our congregation, their names will be added to the list.

There will be an Orientation Meeting for anyone interested in knowing more about St. Stephen and our mission and ministry. You are invited to join us May 17 at 6:30PM for coffee and dessert.  Please let the church office know if you will be attending.


Found in the Church: a Longaberger basket liner. The label says "liner-1999 Generosity". It is 15 in. wide at the base and 7 in. deep. It is cotton. If you think this may belong to you, please contact Betty Lock. (419-882-0804)
